The Chrysler Group plans to produce a smaller version of its 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, likely at a plant in suburban Detroit, according to a union official and a source familiar with the project. The new 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 is set to debut in the replacement for the Jeep Liberty, the union official said. Chrysler-Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has said the Liberty successor will be introduced in January at the 2013 Detroit auto show.
Range Rover Evoque Sport - back in the news
The Range Rover Evoque Sport is back in the news after Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern hinted at it in Beijing. Last year we reported that a Range Rover Evoque Sport is planned after David Mitchell, Land Rover’s Evoque program director, confessed he was driving an Evoque with the 2.0 litre Ecoboost petrol engine turned up to 300bhp. Even if David Mitchell hadn’t confessed his pimped ride it would still have been a very sensible assumption that Land Rover would add a Range Rover Evoque Sport to the range at some point.

Fiat showed off the detail of its new MultiAir engines at the 2009 Geneva motor show – and we’ll finally be able to buy the tech on the new Alfa Romeo Mito supermini later in 2009. The brains behind the common-rail injection system that shook up diesel technology have now produced a new technology designed to make petrol engines more efficient and cleaner. Engineers claim the MultiAir engines – which use electrohydraulic actuation, rather than the more widely available electromechanical systems – boost power and torque, while cutting CO2 by between 10% and 25% and other pollutants by up to 60%.
